The Experts…oh Jeez
This is a quick something I had to get off my chest.
I just don’t like experts. It could be jealousy talking–or it could be that I am not into authority.
I have seen some psychics tout titles such as “expert psychic” and I wondered what that meant and what they were trying to sell. When dealing with spirituality, religion, psychic power, or anything that is not exactly concrete, I tend to view “experts” in these fields with great suspicion. Why is it that human beings feel the need to have a monopoly on ultimate truth? Maybe my cat has more stuff figured out.
The main issue I have with “experts” is that once they claim this title and talk about being psychic, spiritual or religious, often they are looking to be the authority on a certain set of beliefs and how things “should” work. Once a person feels they are able to dictate the way a group of people believes, whether that be a congregation or those who talk to intuitively gifted people, there is a potential to cause great harm and perhaps indoctrinating people with information that may not be entirely accurate. (Of course, nobody wants to explore the possibility that they may be wrong.)
A person should find out what is true for themselves, not just trust what someone says, regardless of their title. This could probably turn into a circular argument where one must decide what is “true”; but I guess it’s better than just ending the conversation…
I tend to agree with you in this regard. It’s ego-based to note yourself as an expert psychic because we are dealing with things that can be intangible.
